The innovative VIASOL DECK rapid M coating system from VIACOR Polymer meets the highest demands for simple and fast application as well as high wear resistance.

As an extensively tested surface protection system according to OS10, it is the ideal choice for durable parking structures. Due to the UV- and color-stable top layer made of high-quality polyurea, the coating system is also excellently suited for open parking areas, such as parking garage top decks. This suitability is underpinned by the testing and classification of fire behavior as a roofing material that has now been carried out.

Fire classification for roofs/roof coverings acc. EN 13501-5

According to the European standard EN 13501-5:2016, the fire behavior of roofing and roof coverings is classified. The associated test procedure determines the resistance to flying sparks and radiant heat. This serves in particular to simulate an outbuilding on fire, the flames of which could flash over onto the building with the roofing to be classified. The associated test method t4 essentially provides for two tests:

  • The test specimen is exposed to a 23 cm gas flame for one minute. Fire duration and spread are then evaluated.
  • The test specimen is exposed to four radiant heat panels for 60 min and also to an open gas flame for a short time (see picture). It is then evaluated whether the heat exposure was able to penetrate the test specimen.

The VIASOL DECK rapid M coating system showed a low fire duration and spread. Besides, the system was not penetrated as a result of heat exposure even after 1 hour.

The system was thus successfully classified in the best possible class Broof(t4) and can therefore be recommended without restriction for use as a top deck. Of course, the system also has a classification report of fire behavior according to EN 13501-1 in the application as a floor. The classification Bfl - s1 once again confirms a low flammability with low smoke emission.
